Our Worldview

Every form of counselling is shaped by beliefs about the human being, the purpose of life and what it means to be well. Ours is Allah-centred and Akhirah focused.

We do not reduce a person to thoughts, emotions or behaviour. Nor do we treat every struggle as a weakness of faith. Emotional pain is real, complex and deserving of careful support.

Our approach begins with the Islamic understanding of the human being and draws upon appropriate therapeutic practice within that framework. Faith is not added at the end of the conversation. It shapes the conversation from the beginning.

Confidentiality Matters

Confidentiality is at the heart of the counselling process. What you share in your sessions remains private, allowing you the space to speak honestly and openly without fear of judgement.

"I finally felt understood without feeling judged."

"For the first time, I felt able to speak openly about both my faith and my struggles."

"Seeking support was one of the best decisions I made."

FAQs

Thinking about counselling?

Here are answers to some of the questions we're most often asked.

How is Islamic counselling different?

Islamic counselling is not conventional therapy with a few Islamic reminders added in.
It begins with what Islam teaches us about the human being, the purpose of life and where true wellbeing is found.

That means your faith is not treated as separate from what you are going through. Your struggle is listened to properly, understood in context and approached using suitable therapeutic methods without stepping outside the guidance of the Qur'an and Sunnah.

Our approach is Allah-centred and Ākhirah-focused, while remaining practical, compassionate and attentive to the reality of what you are facing.

Will I simply be told to pray more?

No. Whilst faith forms the foundation of our approach, we recognise that emotional and psychological struggles can be complex. Every session begins by listening, understanding your circumstances and working with you in a thoughtful and practical way. Islam guides our understanding of your situation, but it is never used to dismiss your experience or offer simplistic answers.

Do I need to be practising to benefit from counselling?

No. Whether you are practising, struggling with your faith or simply looking for support from an Islamic perspective, you will be welcomed with compassion, understanding and without judgement.

What issues can counselling help with?

Counselling can help with a wide range of challenges, including:

• Anxiety and low mood

• Stress and burnout

• Grief and bereavement

• Trauma

• OCD & Intrusive thoughts

• Anger

• Relationship and family difficulties

• Addictions

• Low self-esteem

• Faith-related concerns

If you're unsure whether counselling is right for your situation, please get in touch.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no fixed number.
Some people benefit from only a few sessions, whilst others require longer-term support. Together, we'll regularly review your progress and decide what is most beneficial for your circumstances.

What happens during the first session?

The first session is an opportunity to understand what has brought you to counselling, explore your circumstances and discuss how we can best support you.
There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with, and we will work together at a pace that feels right for you.

Who will I be speaking to?

All sessions are conducted personally by Mufti Adam Esmail, who has over twenty years' experience supporting individuals, couples and families through Islamic guidance, counselling and psychotherapy.

Is my information kept private?

Absolutely. Confidentiality is fundamental to our service. Everything you share is treated with the utmost respect and remains strictly confidential, except where there is a legal or safeguarding duty to protect you or others.

Can I choose between online or in-person sessions?

Yes. You are welcome to attend sessions online or in person, allowing you to choose the option that best suits your circumstances.

Can faith and therapy really work together?

Absolutely. We do not believe you should have to choose between your faith and professional support. Our approach is based in an Islamic understanding of the human being whilst drawing upon recognised therapeutic practice to help you navigate life's challenges.

Do you provide support for couples?

Yes. Alongside individual counselling for brothers, we also offer specialised couples counselling to help improve communication, resolve conflict and strengthen relationships.

Take the First Step

Every journey begins with a single step.

When you're ready, we're here to listen, understand and support you.
